نرم افزار ILWIS در حوزه جی.آی.اس و سنجش از دور

در سال 1998، ITC (International Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Science) نسخه 1.0 تحت داس ILWIS (Integrated Land and Water Information System) را منتشر ساخت که از نسخه 2 به بعد تحت سیستم عامل ویندوز توسعه یافت. در جولای سال 2007 نسخه 3.4 این نرم افزار تحت مجوز GPL انتشار پیدا کرد که از آن هنگام توسط سازمان متن باز 52North نگهداری و توسعه می یابد. هرچند در ابتدا توسط Microsoft Visual C++ نوشته شده ولی در جهت گیری آینده به سمت استفاده ازکامپایلر gcc (GNU Compiler Collection) پیش می رود.
